iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

By now, most Apple users have identified a definitive trend in the Apple models. While the s version marks a significant change under the hood, the models launched without an S are marked by their notable change in looks and design. Needless to say, Apple wasn’t planning on breaking this trend now. So you would find that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are very similar in design to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. The changes are made on the inside and it includes some remarkable new features.

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were announced on September 9, 2015, and released on September 25, 2015. The highlight of this phone is 3D Touch which allows users to use pressure sensitive touch inputs on their iPhone. The phone uses sensors that have been placed in the screen’s backlight layer to measure the firmness of the touch. This is done by measuring the distance between the sensor and the glass when the user touches the screen. Combined with a Taptic Engine Vibrator, 3D touch creates a haptic feedback, 3D Touch is meant to enhance the usability of the phone. This feature got mixed inputs from the users but when combined with an upgraded camera and a stronger chassis, Apple is still a strong contender in the smartphone race.

With Apple facing criticism with the last model because of Bendgate issues, the company used 7000 series aluminum alloy to create a stronger chassis for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Touchscreen problems were also fixed by relocating the integrated circuits to the display assembly.

These changes also came with a refreshing addition of a rose gold color option to the current color offerings. The A8 chip was replaced by an Apple A9 system-on-chip which brought the promise of faster performance and better graphics. It also features an increase in the RAM to 2 GB and it can support LTE Advanced.

Problems with the Touch ID were sought to be fixed by using an updated version which boasted of better performance when it came to fingerprint scanning. The display remains the same size and resolution.

The camera improved to 12 MP for the rear camera and 5 MP for the front camera. It has the ability to record 4K videos and 1080p videos at 60 and 120 frames per second. Other interesting features included the ability of the phone to use the display’s brightness as a flash for clicking photos with the front camera. It also featured live photos which included a short video alongside the photo that is captured. With 13 million units sold on the first weekend, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus had broken Apple’s previous records of first weekend sales.
